Our visit to the holy city of Ise - where the Ise Jingu (伊勢神宮 "That One Force Divine Hall"), the most sacred Shinto Shrine in the world (guess why I came here) is located - starts on an auspicious note.
We come across a fox shrine right outside of the station, in a shady copse on a traffic island that is very welcome on a hot day like today. It's a side shrine of Seki Jinja (世木神社 "Generation Tree Shrine"), and I count at least 15 tiny porcelain foxes within.
