My theme for today's exploration stray is getting from my Airbnb place in Torahime (虎姫 "Tiger Princess") to the actual city of Nagahama. This is one of the fox shrines that I should find along the way, in the town of Nakayama (中山 "In the Middle of the Mountains"), which ironically is not anywhere near any mountains. A pair of life-sized stone foxes sit watch outside the shrine. The shadows of the leaves of the nearby bush paint a funny pattern on the forehead of the left fox in this picture, making it look like a Klingon.
